Who is your favorite character that Robert Newton brought to life? (Of course the performance is an integral part of the character, but I thought this warranted a separate topic since you may feel he gave a touching or award-worthy performance in, say, The Desert Rats, while the character who most captivates you might be, oh, say, Long John Silver? Ahem.)

Lukey, Ted Wilson and Jem (cause he's a cutie)
I like Lukey because he seems more "human" in that role and Ted Wilson because at first they can't stand to be around each other then at the end they can't stand to be apart from each other.

I would have to say that the character that captivated me the most was Bill Sikes because he was so truly heartless. But the character that moved me the most was Tom Bartlett in The Desert Rats. And the most darling of his characters were Bill Walker in Major Barbara, and John Lindsey in The Baker of Barnbury.
And as for charm and, well, 'ahem', that would have to be Jamaica Inn.
