Have you had any dreams about Robert Newton that you're just dying to share? This is the place!

Re: Dreams

Not a dream exactly but I tried something last night that I'd totally recommend to anyone under any amount of stress...

Basically, I'm terrified of the dark and I have an overactive imagination and suffer from THE most horrific nightmares - seriously some of them are more demonic than simply edge-of-your-seat jumpy...

Anyway, I got into bed last night and I was particularly nervous cos I have a rather important and scary appointment at the hospital today - and I was really really really REALLY scared - although I sleep with my bathroom light on so it's not too dark. But I remembered one of my friends told me that when I was really scared to just close my eyes and picture a lovely soothing scenario that would just make you feel safe and comfy.

So I thought of sitting in a huge living room next to a roaring log fire, sitting on a nice comfy sofa and having Bobbie read Shakespeare to me. It was so lovely I felt fine and was asleep within ten minutes!!!

I'd recommend anyone trying it out - even if it's not struggling to get yourself to sleep cos you're scared but more cos you're stressed out with all the worries of the world on your shoulders - The Bobster reading out chunks from Shakey is enough to put *anyone* in a better frame of mind!!!!!

Wow, I thought I was the only adult in the world who was afraid of the dark! (Probably a big part of the reason I stay up most of the night!) I have a feeling we'll get on famously when I come to visit!

BTW, you've reminded me, I have a CD to send you! (Personally, I put Jamaica Inn or Soldiers Three in the machine and let the dialog, which I've pretty much memorized, lull me to sleep. It also does double duty as a night light. But anything with Bob's voice will do. Or Emlyn's ... especially his Dickens readings. Don't worry, I know you don't feel the same way about him, so I'll leave those home. But for me, Emlyn + Bob = dreamtime!)

We already get on famously dear girl!!! emoticon

Oh I also wanted to tell you (sorry, going totally OT) I'm going to visit a friend in August and she lives in Poole... and is about 45 minutes away from Shaftesbury - so I'm going to visit Bobbie's house on the way down to see her!!!! I shall take photos and report back here!!! I'm dead excited.

I've done the Soldier's Three thing too but I keep forcing myself to wake up for the Dressed In Drag bit which is comedy genius at its finest!!!! emoticon
