His second wife Annie described him in an interview shortly before her death last year at 100 (!) as a
'tall,strikingly handsome gentle man with a booming voice-who was rather a naughty boy.'
The director of 'Obsession' described him as 'the nicest,most sensitive and considerate of men.'

Annie also said he had 'warmth and humour'. Makes you wonder why she left him!
Although he was away serving in the Navy during WWII for most of their marriage (from 1936-45).

I'm his great niece from his first marriage and apparently his drinking was horrific, and he was a hard man to live with.. and there were also rumors about him having ahem.. tendencies emoticon
