He looked like he was up to no good, didn't he? I always got a kick out of this photo. Check out that devilish grin! nondisclosed_email@example.com (SMG01)Mon, 12 May 2008 21:57:50 +0000 Vessel Of Wrath/The Beachcomber (1938)https://brobertnewton.runboard.com/p450,from=rss#post450https://brobertnewton.runboard.com/p450,from=rss#post450Hello all, Well I've discovered you can watch films online, which is great, and a lot cheaper than having to buy them. Yesterday I watched the wonderful Mr Smith Goes to Washington starring my absolute fave rave, Jimmy Stewart... and today... THIS gem I've never seen before. Firstly, I just want to say... how believable *exactly* is the idea that anyone would fall in love with Charles Laughton ahead of a young, virile, lovely haired, oddly-accented Robert Newton?! Laughton had all the girls falling over themselves with desire, yet the Bobster never got so much as a look in. What's the deal there?! Secondly, what WAS Bobbie's accent about?! It went from being English to... vaguely Russian... to... slightly Pakistani... to.... who knows?!?!! Bless him, he's a darling and I love him but if it's not Posh, Pirate or East-London (can't say the usual word for it because the board censors it!! How ridiculous!!! ) he's stumped accent-wise!!!!!!! Best Bobbie line: "Look Miss Jones, he's just a rolling stone - and they gather no moss!" I, for the first time ever, have taken ONE screencap of this film, because it's the naughtiest, most devillishly divine smile I have ever seen from The Newton. Enjoy with me if you will... Anyone else managed to catch this gem? It's got one of the best endings of any film I have ever seen in my life!!!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Spev)Sun, 11 May 2008 15:11:24 +0000
